It's January 2004. I'm driving my son Jesse to his first year of college at Naropa in Boulder, Co. Stopping for coffee; I catch sight of a poster for Henry David Thoreau and can't help wondering what happened to my Walden Pond? Somehow it's all gotten complicated. I need to simplify.

It's now March 2004, and slowly it's changing. My home and darkroom now reside aboard a 1960 Airstream Landyacht. Twenty six feet of pure reflective light, following my Dodge pickup throughout America.

I invite you to send me your ideas of what makes this country unique, places you hold dear, and amazing people you think I will find intriguing. I would love to meet you and do a portrait or pick-up a new riff on my banjo before heading on (yep, change requires me learning to play it).

See you under the sun,
